Description

The BNF for Children (BNFC) provides essential practical information to all healthcare professionals involved in the prescribing, dispensing, monitoring and administration of medicines to children. The resource addresses a significant knowledge gap in many areas of paediatric practice by providing practical information on the use of medicines in children of all ages from birth to adolescence.Recommendations in the BNF for Children have been constructed on the basis of authoritative sources, emerging evidence and best practice guidelines. The content has been carefully validated by a network of paediatric experts and the process is overseen by a paediatric formulary committee.Unique benefitsShares the familiar structure of the British National Formulary (BNF) and is designed to be used in paediatric and general practice settingsIncludes information on unlicensed use of medicines and provides details of unlicensed medicines that can be imported, manufactured by ‘special order' or prepared extemporaneouslyCovers the drug treatment of rare childhood conditions, provides guidance on specialist paediatric interventions and includes details of those medicines that are used in children in a different way to adultsAs a point-of-care tool it is important that it provides practitioners with the most up-to-date information and therefore the latest edition is essential.International relevanceBNF and BNFC are the gold standard of drug information in English-speaking countries. They are used for constructing national formularies in other countries and to support regulatory work. They provide essential information when treating patients who have been prescribed medicines in the UK. Unlike many other local alternatives, both resources are completely independent from pharmaceutical industry influence with guidance that is based on best practice and real life evidence.Significant content updates for latest editionThe BNF for Children 2013-2014 has been revised and revalidated to reflect changes in product availability, emerging safety concerns and shifts in clinical practice. Some significant updates include:Changes to the criteria that define paracetamol overdose included in Emergency Treatment of PoisoningNICE guidance on the use of omalizumab for severe persistent allergic asthma in children 6 years and overAdvice on prescribing adrenaline auto-injectors for anaphylaxis by brand name only to ensure patients and carers receive the device they have been trained to useImportant advice on the prescribing of caffeine; caffeine doses are now expressed in terms of caffeine citrate onlyRevised drug treatment of septicaemia in neonates to take account of the NICE guideline Antibiotics for Early-onset Neonatal Infection (August 2012)NICE guidance on when to prescribe tobramycin by dry powder inhalation for pseudomonal lung infection in cystic fibrosisUpdated doses of rifampicin and ethambutol in the standard regimen for the treatment of tuberculosisMHRA/CHM advice on prescribing oral tacrolimus products by brand name only to minimise the risk of inadvertent switching between products.

The NETA Acceptance Testing Specifications was developed for use by those responsible for assessing the suitability for initial energization of electrical power equipment and systems and to specify field tests and inspections that ensure these systems and apparatus perform satisfactorily, minimizing downtime and maximizing life expectancy.

Use the ANSI/NETA ATS 2013 as a guide when specifying and performing the necessary tests to ensure that your electrical systems and apparatus not only meet your project specifications, but that the manufacturer of the equipment supplied you with a product that will perform safely and reliably for many years to come.

Acceptance tests are not manufacturers factory tests. They comprise those tests necessary to determine that the electrical equipment has been selected in accordance with the engineer's requirements, installed in accordance with applicable codes and installation standards, and perform in accordance with their design and setting parameters. The ANSI/NETA Standard for Acceptance Testing Specifications for Electrical Power Equipment and Systems assists designers, specifiers, architects, and users of electrical equipment and systems in specifying required tests on newly-installed power systems and apparatus, before energizing, to ensure that the installation and equipment comply with specifications and intended use as well as with regulatory and safety requirements.

1. GENERAL SCOPE

1. These specifications cover the suggested field tests and inspections that are available to assess the suitability for initial energization and final acceptance of electrical power equipment and systems.

2. The purpose of these specifications is to assure that tested electrical equipment and systems are operational, are within applicable standards and manufacturer's tolerances, and are installed in accordance with design specifications.

3. The work specified in these specifications may involve hazardous voltages, materials, operations, and equipment. These specifications do not purport to address all of the safety issues associated with their use. It is the responsibility of the user to review all applicable regulatory limitations prior to the use of these specifications.

The 2013 Edition of the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) will be available mid-July.
Weight: 8 lbs 8 ozs

NBIC National Board Inspection Code 2013 (NBIC 2013)covers boiler and pressure vessels and required for ASME stamp holders and repair firms as well as inspections.

The NBIC is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited standard and provides rules and guidelines for the installation, inspection, repair and alteration of boilers, pressure vessels and pressure relief devices. It is required in many United States and Canadian jurisdictions.

The NBIC has a long history of setting jurisdictional standards in North America from Cities, States and Canadian Providences.  The NBIC 2013 is an International Standard and as expressed a longtime North American National Standard.

The NBIC 2013 is also known as the National Board Inspection Code  or the NBIC.  The NBIC 2013 edition replaces the NBIC 2011 edition.  Also, in 2011, the National Board of Boilers and Pressure Vessel Inspectors ceased the printing of  addendums. This is a great improvement from earlier NBIC editions, but in the pre-1990 the NBIC was one-book consisting of boiler and pressure vessel installations, then inspection of boilers and pressure vessels as well as the repair and alterations of boilers and pressure vessel.  The NBIC has come a long ways!

Today, the National Board Inspection Code 2013 edition continues to provide the same vital information to users of boilers and pressure vessels as in past year NBIC editions.  As always, the new NBIC consist of the three parts: installation, inspection, and repairs and alterations. Each NBIC is bound. The National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) Parts:

Part 1 Installations of Boilers & Pressure Vessels
Part 2 Inspections of Boilers & Pressure Vessels
Part 3 Repairs and Alternations of Boilers & Pressure Vessels

The NBIC also known as the National Board of Boilers & Pressure Vessel Code is the premier post construction code book for boilers and pressure vessels worldwide and is constantly improving.

Important Note: All National Board Stamp Holders are required to have the complete National Board Inspection Code (NBIC 2013) set.

Description

Fields Virology is the authoritative reference book for virology, providing definitive coverage of all aspects of virology, including thorough coverage of virus biology as well as replication and medical aspects of specific virus families.  With the regular outbreaks of influenza, noroviruses as well as other emerging and re-emerging viruses it is essential to have the most up-to-date information available. With this Sixth Edition, all chapters have been completely updated, an important new emphasis has been placed on virus discovery and emerging viruses. Viruses associated with cancer, including the new human polyomaviruses, are highlighted in this Sixth Edition and new chapters have been added on circoviruses and mimiviruses. While the main focus of this edition continues to be on viruses, information on prions and the infectious spongiform encephalopathies are also included.

FEATURES

• 2-volume set
• Full color throughout with over 1,000 illustrations in total and most chapters provide key figures for use as lecture slides
• Online companion website with fully searchable text, all references linked to PubMed and additional material not found in the print for access to content anytime
• New coverage of emerging and viruses, including those causing influenza and HIV
• Updated coverage of viruses and cancer
• Coverage includes virus structure, virus entry, replication, and assembly, virus-host cell interactions, host immune responses and vaccines, antiviral therapeutics, virus evolution and immunization
• Thorough coverage of all viruses of medical importance, including both basic science and clinical features
