The arrangement of the contents in this edition differs from that in previous editions. In recognition of the growing size of the contents this edition of the Bound Volume is published in two parts. Part A presents the Framework and the unaccompanied IFRSs and their introductions and explanatory rubrics. Part B contains the accompanying documents, such as bases for conclusions, implementation guidance and illustrative examples. This partition therefore distinguishes the Framework and the requirements of IFRSs (in Part A) from the non-mandatory accompanying material (in Part B), and enables them to be read side by side.

Chronicle: Social Service is a profession regulated by law and an area of scientific knowledge that has been developing in Brazil for more than seventy years. In our country there are more than 85 thousand social workers graduated and registered in their Regional Committees of Professional Inspection. In relation to the number of professionals, in Brazil we have the second biggest set of social workers in the world, the USA having the first one.

According to Yazbek, Martinelli and Raichelis (2008), "the critical production about the profession is concentrated in Brazil, and it has to be considered that all the doctoral courses are in Brazilian universities, being such courses responsible for the qualification of the first masters and doctors in the area in Latin American and European countries".
In the past three decades, the area has presented a great development in its academic production, and such production, besides having contributed to develop new and improved professional interventions in the several fields of the social policies, has achieved the writing of hundreds of books, articles, reviews, and communication of researches.
Thus, the Brazilian Social Service was enriched when it changed from a discipline almost entirely devoted to intervention to a vigorous area of production of knowledge of the social reality, which decisively contributed to the creation of post-graduation courses that gave a new influx to the research and the production of bibliography of the area.
Since its creation, in September 1979, the journal Serviço Social & Sociedade has had an editorial politics directed to giving voice to the valuable academic and professional production of social workers and related professionals, as well as it has also shown the social-political development of the Social Service and the thinking of its representative bodies.
The periodical was created at the end of the military government, when several social and popular movements were questioning the authoritarian State and were demanding democratic liberties. This was the same period when there was large unions' mobilization leading to the big strikes at ABC and to the creation of Partido dos Trabalhadores and CUT.
Those were the circumstances that marked the process of re-articulation of the political-professional forces in the Brazilian society and in the Social Services, which promoted diversification and democratization in the ways social workers expressed themselves and researched. In this sense, the creation of the journal Serviço Social & Sociedade was contemporary with the significant renewal of the Social Service, and it keeps on contributing to the academic and professional development of this area of knowledge and intervention in the reality, as well as the development of related areas.
It is the first journal of Social Services to have a national circulation, and it is one of the most important periodicals of reference for professors and university students, researchers and professionals who try to keep up with the debate about the important national and international issues that reflect on the Social Services and the Social and Human Sciences.
According to researcher Maria Ozanira da Silva e Silva, "it is the only Latin American periodical that has got to number 100 with a regular flow of publication for thirty years". The same researcher emphasizes the "recent classification in the A1 Stratum in the Capes / MEC's Qualis System Periodicals" (SILVA E SILVA, 2009, p. 601).
Aims: To make the academic and professional production by social workers and related researchers known, as well as contributing to the debate and critical and analytical deepening of the social theory, with emphasis on themes related to the Brazilian and Latin American reality.
Areas of interest: Applied Social Sciences, Human Sciences, Social Services, Ethics, Political Science, Public Policies, Health.
Additional information: The graphic and editorial project of the journal has been reformulated every 50 issues since its creation in order to modernize and improve its visual quality, so that the journal becomes more and more attractive and easier to handle. The last reformulation happened in number 100, September / December 2009. Besides that, in the special issues published to mark each decade of existence, Serviço Social & Sociedade has invited researchers and professionals to debate a theme of interest to the area, and that debate is ultimately revised and edited to be published in its pages, which has been very well received by the public of the journal. In Issue 100 there was an even further innovation, because two DVDs with the whole reproduction of the debate promoted by the journal to celebrate its thirty years of existence were added to the issue.
Frequency: Quarterly
Its abbreviated title is Serv. Soc. Soc., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and legends.

Historia: El Servicio Social es una profesión reglamentada por ley y un área de conocimiento científico que se ha venido desarrollando en Brasil desde hace más de setenta años. Cuenta en nuestro país con más de 85 mil trabajadores sociales titulados y registrados en Consejos Regionales de Fiscalía Profesional. En términos numéricos, Brasil presenta hoy el segundo conjunto más representativo de trabajadores sociales del mundo, superado solamente por los Estados Unidos.
Segundo Yazbek, Martinelli y Raichelis (2008), "la producción crítica sobre la profesión se concentra en Brasil, considerando inclusive que todos los cursos de doctorado están en universidades brasileñas y son responsables también por la formación de las primeras maestrías y doctorados en países de América Latina y Europa".
En las últimas tres décadas, el área ha presentado gran desarrollo de su producción académica, que además de contribuir con el desarrollo de nuevas y perfeccionadas intervenciones profesionales en los más variados campos de las políticas sociales, se ha objetivado en centenares de libros, artículos, reseñas y ponencias de investigaciones.
El Servicio Social brasileño se ha enriquecido, de ese modo, al transitar de una disciplina casi que exclusivamente de intervención para una vigorosa área de producción de conocimiento sobre la realidad social, lo que ha contribuido decisivamente para la creación de los cursos de Postgrado, que han proporcionado nuevo influjo a la investigación y producción bibliográfica en el área.
Desde su creación en septiembre de 1979 la revista Serviço Social & Sociedade presenta una política editorial pautada por la directriz de dar voz a esa valiosa producción académica y profesional de los trabajadores sociales e investigadores de áreas afines, repercutiendo también el desarrollo sociopolítico del Servicio Social y el pensamiento de sus entidades representativas.
El periódico salió a la luz en la coyuntura del final del régimen militar en Brasil, cuando muchos movimientos sociales y populares cuestionaban al Estado autoritario y clamaban por libertades democráticas, momento también de fuertes movilizaciones sindicales que condujeron hacia grandes huelgas en la región del ABC paulista y la fundación del Partido de los Trabajadores y la CUT.
Este ha sido el contexto que marcó el proceso de rearticulación de las fuerzas político profesionales en la sociedad brasileña y en el Servicio Social, promoviendo una diversificación y democratización de las formas de expresión y las líneas de investigación de los trabajadores sociales. En este sentido, la revista Serviço Social & Sociedade ha sido, en su génesis, contemporánea del importante movimiento de renovación del Servicio Social y asimismo sigue contribuyendo con el desarrollo académico y profesional de esa área de conocimiento, intervención en la realidad y en áreas afines.
Es la primera Revista de circulación nacional en el área del Servicio Social, manteniéndose como uno de los más importantes periódicos de consulta obligatoria de profesores y estudiantes universitarios, investigadores y profesionales que buscan sintonizarse con la discusión de grandes cuestiones nacionales e internacionales que inciden en el Servicio Social y las Ciencias Humanas y Sociales.
Según la investigadora Maria Ozanira da Silva e Silva, "es el único periódico en América Latina que ha logrado llegar al número 100, manteniendo un flujo regular de publicación durante treinta años". La misma investigadora sobresale aún la "reciente clasificación en el Extracto A1 en el Sistema Qualis Periódicos de Capes/MEC". (Cf. Silva e Silva, 2009:601)
Objetivos: Dar visibilidad a la producción académica y profesional de trabajadores sociales y de investigadores de áreas afines, así como contribuir con la discusión y profundización crítica y analítica de la teoría social, enfocando preferentemente temas que refieren a la realidad brasileña y latinoamericana.
Áreas de interés: Ciencias Sociales Aplicadas, Ciencias Humanas, Servicio Social, Ética, Ciencia Política, Políticas Públicas, Salud.
Informaciones adicionales: Desde su creación, a cada 50 números, la Revista es objeto de reformulación de su proyecto gráfico editorial, lo que ha ocurrido recientemente con la publicación del número 100, de septiembre/diciembre de 2009, siempre en el sentido de modernizar y perfeccionar la calidad visual de la Revista, volviéndola cada vez más atractiva y de ágil manoseo por parte de sus lectores. Además, en sus números conmemorativos que marcan el paso de décadas de su existencia, Serviço Social & Sociedade ha promovido mesas de discusión con investigadores y profesionales invitados, generalmente sobre un tema de gran interés para el área, posteriormente revisado y editado para publicación en sus páginas, iniciativa que ha obtenido gran acogida de parte de su público. El número 100 de la Revista ha inn ovado aún más cuando la publicación impresa se hizo acompañada de dos DVDs que reprodujeron en la íntegra la discusión promovida por la Revista por ocasión de la conmemoración de sus tres décadas de existencia.

É a primeira Revista de circulação nacional na área do Serviço Social, mantendo-se como um dos mais importantes periódicos de consulta obrigatória de professores e estudantes universitários, de pesquisadores e profissionais que buscam sintonizar-se com o debate de grandes questões nacionais e internacionais que incidem no Serviço Social e nas ciências humanas e sociais.
Segundo a pesquisadora Maria Ozanira da Silva e Silva "é o único periódico na América Latina que chegou ao número 100, mantendo fluxo regular de publicação durante trinta anos". A mesma pesquisadora ressalta ainda a "recente classificação no Estrato A1 no Sistema Qualis Periódicos da Capes/MEC". (Cf. Silva e Silva, 2009:601)
Objetivos: Dar visibilidade à produção acadêmica e profissional de assistentes sociais e de pesquisadores de áreas afins, bem como contribuir com o debate e o aprofundamento crítico e analítico da teoria social, enfocando, preferencialmente, temas que dizem respeito à realidade brasileira e latino-americana.
Áreas de interesse: Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, Ciências Humanas, Serviço Social, Ética, Ciência Política, Políticas Públicas, Saúde.
Informações adicionais: Desde a sua criação, a cada 50 números, a Revista é objeto de reformulação do seu projeto gráfico-editorial, o que ocorreu recentemente com a publicação do número 100, de setembro/dezembro de 2009, sempre no sentido de modernizar e melhorar a qualidade visual da Revista, tornando-a mais atraente e de ágil manuseio para seus leitores. Além disso, nos seus números comemorativos que marcam a passagem de décadas de sua existência, a Serviço Social & Sociedade vem promovendo mesas de debates com pesquisadores e profissionais convidados, geralmente sobre um tema de grande interesse para a área, posteriormente revisto e editado para publicação em suas páginas, iniciativa que tem recebido grande acolhida de seu público. No número 100 inovou ainda quando fez acompanhar da publicação impressa de dois DVDs que reproduziram na íntegra o debate promovido pela Revista quando da comemoração das suas três décadas de existência.
