ASME’s Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) | 2013 Edition - An International Code American Society of Mechanical Engineers

American Society of Mechanical Engineers

The International Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code establishes rules of safety — relating only to pressure integrity — governing the design, fabrication, and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels, and nuclear power plant components during construction. The objective of the rules is to provide a margin for deterioration in service. Advancements in design and material and the evidence of experience are constantly being added.

The 2013 Edition of the codes includes a 'no addenda service', meaning that all changes are incorporated into the appropriate page and each affected area is identified, with a designator corresponding to the new Edition.

Each Section of the 2013 Edition also includes a summary of changes that lists the material affected by the change, plus the nature of the change.

With the release of the 2013 ASME BPVC, the Code will be moving from a three-year to a two-year cycle.
