The Handbook of the Birds of the World is the first work ever to illustrate and deal in detail with all the living species of birds. When Volume 16 is published in 2011, it will be the first work to verbally and visually portray each member of an entire Class of the Animal Kingdom.

Material in each volume is grouped by families, with an introductory text on general aspects of the group, generously illustrated with colour photographs. This is followed by individual species accounts and their accompanying colour plates illustrating all species, including all significant sexual and subspecific differences, of all of the families covered. In addition, all volumes contain a foreword on a particular ornithological theme.

Volumes average 600 pages of full-colour content and deal with 500 to 800 species, with 60-plus plates, hundreds of photographs and distribution maps, and thousands of references. So far, 14 volumes have been produced. New volumes appear at roughly annual intervals, and are collected by scientific organizations, birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts in over 150 countries.

Handbook of the Birds of the World - Volume 1 Ostrich to Ducks
Edited by Josep del Hoyo, Andrew Elliott, Jordi Sargatal

ISO 16528-1:2007 Boilers and pressure vessels -- Part 1: Performance requirements - Edition: 1 (Monolingual) \ Language English or French \ Paper or PDF

ISO 16528-1:2007 defines the performance requirements for the construction of boilers and pressure vessels.

It is not the intent of ISO 16528-1:2007 to address operation, maintenance and in-service inspection of boilers and pressure vessels.

In relation to the geometry of the pressure-containing parts for pressure vessels, ISO 16528-1:2007 includes welding end connection for the first circumferential joint for welded connections, first threaded joint for screwed connections, face of the first flange for bolted, flanged connections, first sealing surface for proprietary connections or fittings and safety accessories, where necessary.

In relation to the geometry of pressure-containing parts for boilers, ISO 16528-1:2007 covers feedwater inlet (including the inlet valve) to steam outlet (including the outlet valve), including all inter-connecting tubing that can be exposed to a risk of overheating and cannot be isolated from the main system, associated safety accessories and connections to the boilers involved in services such as draining, venting, desuperheating, etc.

ISO 16528-1:2007 does not apply for nuclear components, railway and marine boilers, gas cylinders or piping systems or mechanical equipment, e.g. turbine and machinery casings.

SNCT CODAP 2005 (Division 1 & Division 2) + 2006 Addendum inclued + 2007 Addendum + 2009 Addendum GB - Code for Construction of unfired Pressure Vessels, Edition 2005, [version anglaise - english translation] - Le Syndicat National de la Chaudronnerie, Tuyauterie et Maintenance industrielle

The evolution of the demand to the Manufacturers and the regular modifications in the international, European and French standards have led the SNCT to prepare new editions of the Codes of Construction, reflecting the French professionalism.

Inheriting an already long tradition, the CODAP® has had to be developed in order to facilitate its use within the regulatory context specific to each user. The Code in particular enables one to better meet the requirements of the French regulations and of the regulations from the countries which have transposed the European pressure equipment Directive 97/23/CE into national law.

Consisting of two Divisions, this new edition with international vocation meets the requirements of the future standard ISO 16528.

The Division 1 is essentially intended for the construction of the most common vessels to be manufactured from common materials.

The Division 2 intended for the construction of more complex vessels offers all the possibilities set out in the former versions of the Code, largely supplemented with a great number of innovations.

The purpose of this new edition, reflecting the consensus between the Manufacturers, Users and Purchasers, Inspection Bodies, Technical Centres...., is to enable one to construct the most economic possible vessels meeting the regulatory requirements whilst assuring the best safety level.

This new edition of the CODAP®, the presentation of which has also been modified in order to facilitate its use, should enable the Manufacturers to take up the industrial challenges in the future years.
