Long one of the most widely respected texts in its field,Constitutional Lawexamines those provisions that govern the day-to-day work of criminal justice personnel while protecting the rights of whom they serve. Many professionals depend on some knowledge of the law to properly do their job and avoid civil liability charges. However, the Constitution is complex and often difficult to decipher. This book dispels any such difficulty using a modular approach and reader-friendly prose to first breakdown the major principles of constitutional argument, and then explain how they are commonly applied in specific scenarios. Special attention is paid to the way individual rights are safeguarded by the Fourth and Fifth Amendments, the limits on police authority, and the requirements of Due Process.

The IMDG Code has undergone many changes over the years, in both formats and content, in order to keep up with the rapid expansion of the shipping industry. Amendment 36-12 includes revisions to various sections of the Code and to transport requirements for specific substances. It was adopted by IMO's Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) at its 90th session in May 2012.

The MSC had previously agreed that the Code as it was adopted in 2002 would be mandatory as from 1 January 2004. The Code as amended by Amendment 36-12 is mandatory as from 1 January 2014 but may be applied by administrations in whole or in part on a voluntary basis from 1 January 2013.

The Code lays down basic principles: detailed recommendations for individual substances, materials and articles, and a number of recommendations for good operational practice, including advice on terminology, packing, labelling, stowage, segregation and handling, and emergency response action.

The two-volume Code is divided into seven parts:

Volume 1 (parts 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the Code) contains sections on:

- general provisions, definitions, training
- classification- packing and tank provisions
- consignment procedures
- construction and testing of packagings, IBCs, large packagings, portable tanks, MEGCs and road tank vehicles
- transport operations.

Volume 2 contains part 3 (Dangerous Goods List, special provisions and exceptions), appendix A (generic and N.O.S. Proper Shipping Names), appendix B (Glossary of terms) and an index.

Description:

Recognized by airlines worldwide, the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) is THE industry standard for shipping dangerous goods by air. It is the most complete, up-to-date and user-friendly reference manual trusted by the industry for over 50 years.

Maintaining compliance with the latest regulations is critical for safely shipping dangerous goods by air. The DGR draws from the industry’s most trustworthy cargo sources to help you classify, pack, mark, label, and document shipments of dangerous goods. The DGR includes international dangerous goods air regulations, as well as state and airline requirements. It is an invaluable resource in ensuring you have all the information you need to ship safely and in compliance, at your fingertips.

55th edition of DGR: what’s new?

The new edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR), which became available early October 2013, will take effect 1 January 2014. This edition of the DGR will reflects the changes adopted through addenda to the 2013 – 2014 edition of the ICAO Technical Instructions, as well as changes agreed by the IATA Dangerous Goods Board (DGB).

Lithium batteries

This edition of the DGR incorporates a requirement for certain lithium battery shipments, which had previously been allowed to just be described on the air waybill, to have to be accompanied by a Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods. This change applies to lithium ion and lithium metal batteries, such as the type used in consumer electronic devices, shipped under the provisions of Section IB of the applicable packing instruction.
To ease the change for shippers of these batteries, the DGB agreed to a 3-month transition period until the end of March 2014 for shippers to implement this change. IATA published the guidance document on lithium batteries (pdf) to comply with the regulations that come into effect 1 Jan 2014

Get ready for ICAO regulatory changes

Other content in the 55th Edition is a specific appendix that identifies the changes to the Regulations that will become effective 1 January 2015 with the publication of the 2015 – 2016 edition of the ICAO Technical Instructions. This appendix is produced in an effort to provide shippers, operators and others in the supply chain with advance information that will allow them to be better prepared for the new requirements in 2015.

Description

This extensively updated new edition of the widely acclaimed Treatise on Geochemistry has increased its coverage beyond the wide range of geochemical subject areas in the first edition, with five new volumes which include: the history of the atmosphere, geochemistry of mineral deposits, archaeology and anthropology, organic geochemistry and analytical geochemistry. In addition, the original Volume 1 on "Meteorites, Comets, and Planets" was expanded into two separate volumes dealing with meteorites and planets, respectively. These additions increased the number of volumes in the Treatise from 9 to 15 with the index/appendices volume remaining as the last volume (Volume 16). Each of the original volumes was scrutinized by the appropriate volume editors, with respect to necessary revisions as well as additions and deletions. As a result, 27% were republished without major changes, 66% were revised and 126 new chapters were added.

Readership

A must have for researchers, teachers and (graduate) students of Geochemistry, in particular, and the Geosciences in general. It is also highly recommended for professionals working in contamination clean-up, resource managers, and environmental regulators, among others.

About the BPVC

Since its first issuance in 1914, ASME’s Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) has pioneered modern standards-development, maintaining a commitment to enhance public safety and technological advancement to meet the needs of a changing world.  More than 100,000 copies of the BPVC are in use in 100 countries around the world.

Product Scope / Abstract

This Section provides requirements for design, fabrication, installation and inspection of steam heating, hot water heating, hot water supply boilers, and potable water heaters intended for low pressure service that are directly fired by oil, gas, electricity, coal or other solid or liquid fuels.  It contains appendices which cover approval of new material, methods of checking safety valve and safety relief valve capacity, examples of methods of checking safety valve and safety relief valve capacity, examples of methods of calculation and computation, definitions relating to boiler design and welding, and quality control systems.  Rules pertaining to use of the H, HV, and HLW ASME Product Certification Marks are also included.

Careful application of this Section will help users to comply with applicable regulations within their jurisdictions, while achieving the operational, cost and safety benefits to be gained from the many industry best-practices detailed within these volumes.
Key changes to this 2013 Edition include:

Manufacturer’s Data Report forms are being revised in order to simplify the requirements for the Authorized Inspector to complete the “Certificate of Shop Inspection” and the “Certificate of Field Assembly Inspection” portions of the Manufacturers data report form by requiring only the Inspector’s signature, National Board commission number and endorsement to be recorded. A new paragraph covering tolerances is being added under Part HG, as HG-103, titled “Tolerances”.  This revision was recommended, since forewords are not officially considered part of the Code and any language perceived as mandatory and enforceable needed to be moved to the body of the Code.A new Appendix containing rules for the governing BPVC Edition and Addenda is being added to Section IV as well as revisions needed throughout the Code to clarify the requirements.   It had been suggested that the BPVC be revised to clarify the requirements rather than relying on interpretations.  During work on this item, it became apparent that clarification was needed for establishing the governing BPVC Edition and Addenda for new construction and field assembly as well as for parts.  Also, as a result of initiating this item, CSP-9 was revised to establish a policy for establishing the effective BPVC Edition and Addenda to be used to construct an item that is to be stamped with an ASME Product Certification Mark (e.g. Code Symbol Stamp). All changes to this 2013 Edition are incorporated into the appropriate page and each affected area is identified with a designator.  Each Section includes a Summary of Changes that lists the material affected by the change, plus the nature of the change.  There will no longer be Addenda service for this 2013 Edition or for future Editions.

Intended for manufacturers, users, constructors, designers and others concerned with the design, fabrication, assembly, erection, examination, inspection and testing of pressure vessels, plus all potential governing entities.

BPVC purchasers may wish to purchase a binder from ASME (BPVC Binder), but the publication will also fit a standard three-ring binder.

SINOPSE

Decidir.

ASME’s Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) | 2013 Edition - An International Code American Society of Mechanical Engineers

American Society of Mechanical Engineers

The International Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code establishes rules of safety — relating only to pressure integrity — governing the design, fabrication, and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels, and nuclear power plant components during construction. The objective of the rules is to provide a margin for deterioration in service. Advancements in design and material and the evidence of experience are constantly being added.

The 2013 Edition of the codes includes a 'no addenda service', meaning that all changes are incorporated into the appropriate page and each affected area is identified, with a designator corresponding to the new Edition.

Each Section of the 2013 Edition also includes a summary of changes that lists the material affected by the change, plus the nature of the change.

With the release of the 2013 ASME BPVC, the Code will be moving from a three-year to a two-year cycle.
