The Mission Co-ordination volume assists personnel who plan and co- ordinate SAR operations and exercises. This Manual is published jointly by the International Civil Aviation Organization and the International Maritime Organization.

This Manual has been updated from the first edition by including the amendments that were adopted by various sessions of the IMO Maritime Safety Committee since June 2001 to May 2006, all of which have entered into force.

This new publication is updated by the amendments that were approved at the eighty-third session of the IMO Maritime Safety Committee in May 2007, which will enter into force on 1 June 2010.
